1. connected isolation dot net is online portfolio of Mrova's practice.

Mrova is situation designer, (visual) researcher, and filmmaker. She lives and works in Europe, and occasionally in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Her practice emphasizes mediating social and political issues, focusing on places or situations that have played key roles in recent historical events, as well as researching tactical (inter)passivity. In her ongoing research, she focuses on documentary forms of representation and strategies for deconstructing power by highlighting hidden or repressed memories and fragmentary archives.

Her work primarily involves film, photography, graphic design, sound, radio/air frequencies, sensors, and interventions in public spaces. Positioned at the intersection of art, theory, activism, and hacking, her practice aims to provide a platform for exploring the possibilities and challenges that arise from working across these domains.

Open-ended projects are a significant aspect of her focus because they allow for collective contributions; the outcomes cannot be predetermined, thus challenging the conventional notion of (artistic) singular authorship. In this way, her work process resembles that of a hacker with open-source ethics: intervening in established systems, (re)programming them, leaving them open for others to contribute or make changes.

Mrova graduated cum laude from the Department of Interaction Design / Unstable Media at the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, and with distinction from the Film and Art Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
